Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse – Cardiovascular Progressive Care – North Carolina

Start Date: June 15, 2026
Location: Western North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour shifts with rotating days and nights; 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio; weekend requirement of 6 shifts per 6-week schedule period; holiday flexibility required

Highlights:

• 40-bed cardiovascular progressive care unit specializing in CV surgery and vascular surgery patient populations
• Complex case mix including open heart surgery (CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR), thoracic procedures (lobectomy, thoracotomy), esophagogastrectomy, AAA repair, and carotid endarterectomies
• Overflow medical cardiology patients with diagnoses including heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, and heart block
• Experience with advanced cardiac drips, epidural management, chest tube care, and critical monitoring
• Cerner EMR system with Baxter IV pumps and specialized stepdown equipment
• Collaborative team environment with approximately 100 staff members supporting patient care

Requirements:

• Active North Carolina RN license or compact state licensure
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Minimum one year of recent stepdown and telemetry experience required
• Prior cardiovascular surgery or vascular surgery patient population experience strongly preferred
• CVICU experience is a plus
• Proficiency with epidural management, chest tube management, tube feedings, cardiac drip titration, and IV insulin protocols
• Flexibility to float to other stepdown or medical-surgical units as needed
