Technical Sales Engineer – Software & Engineering Services

Job Type / Location

• Full-time | Direct Hire
• Location: Southern California – Metro Los Angeles to Long Beach, CA
• Work Arrangement: Hybrid; approximately 1 day/week in the Long Beach office
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
• Travel: 25–40%, primarily throughout Southern California with occasional domestic travel
• Territory: Southern California

Job Summary

We are seeking a Technical Sales Engineer to drive business growth across the aerospace, defense, commercial aviation, and space markets. This role will sell technical engineering services and engineering software, including structural analysis, advanced simulation, optimization, prototyping, testing, and consulting solutions. The ideal candidate is a strong hunter-style salesperson who can understand technical requirements, develop new accounts, grow existing relationships, and manage complex sales cycles.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop new business and expand existing customer accounts across aerospace and related markets.
• Sell engineering services, simulation/software solutions, prototyping, testing, and technical consulting.
• Identify prospects, build relationships, and manage opportunities through the complete sales cycle.
• Conduct technical presentations, customer consultations, software demonstrations, and solution discussions.
• Develop proposals, scopes of work, project estimates, pricing, and project plans.
• Respond to RFPs and participate in contract and pricing negotiations.
• Partner with engineering, project management, and executive teams to develop customer solutions and transition awarded projects.
• Maintain accurate CRM activity, sales pipeline, forecasts, and performance metrics.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of technical sales or business development experience.
• Experience selling engineering services, technical solutions, or engineering/software products .
• Strong and methodical hunter/business development skills with a demonstrated ability to generate new business.
• Proven experience meeting sales quotas and growing customer accounts.
• Strong CRM experience ; Salesforce, HubSpot, or comparable CRM experience is acceptable.
• Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and closing skills.
• Ability to translate complex engineering concepts into clear business value for customers.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
• Willingness to travel 25–40%.
• Valid driver's license.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

• Aerospace, defense, aircraft, spacecraft, or advanced manufacturing industry experience.
• Experience selling FEA/CAE, CAD, simulation, optimization, or engineering software .
• Experience selling outsourced engineering/design, R&D consulting, composite structures, prototyping, fabrication, or testing services.
• Engineering or Business degree.
• Experience with aerospace structures or simulation/R&D environments.
• Experience with composite tooling or FEA software.
• Formal sales training such as Sandler or similar.
• Prior engineering or project delivery experience.

Compensation

• Base Salary: $110,000–$125,000
• OTE: $180,000–$200,000+
• Commission: Uncapped
• Mileage: Reimbursed
• Car Allowance: None
