About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Drywall Foreman to lead drywall crews on commercial construction projects. This position is responsible for coordinating daily field operations, supervising crews, managing materials and equipment, maintaining production schedules, and ensuring work is completed safely, accurately, and according to project specifications.

The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with commercial metal stud framing, drywall installation and finishing, blocking, acoustical ceilings, and commercial doors, frames, and hardware . The Foreman should be a confident field leader with excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise commercial drywall crews on active construction projects.

• Interpret project drawings, specifications, and job-specific scopes of work.

• Oversee metal stud framing, drywall partitions and ceilings, drywall hanging and finishing, and related installations.

• Supervise installation of acoustical grid and ceiling tile systems.

• Oversee installation of commercial doors, frames, and hardware.

• Coordinate daily production activities and job-specific schedules.

• Attend required project meetings and communicate effectively with General Contractors and project teams.

• Build and manage productive crews based on project requirements.

• Coordinate crew assignments, equipment, materials, and workflow.

• Manage stocking and proper handling of drywall materials and equipment.

• Coordinate material requirements and ensure materials are available when needed.

• Ensure work is completed accurately, on schedule, and in accordance with quality standards.

• Monitor workmanship and perform quality-control checks throughout the project.

• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.

• Enforce company and project-specific safety policies and procedures.

• Conduct daily crew briefings covering safety, production expectations, and project priorities.

• Assist with training and development of apprentices and laborers.

• Participate in project planning and material-ordering discussions.

• Complete punch-list work and final installations as directed.

• Resolve field issues and communicate project concerns to supervisors and Project Managers.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience supervising commercial drywall crews .

• Strong knowledge of commercial framing and drywall installation methods.

• Hands-on experience with:

  • Metal stud framing

  • Metal and wood blocking

  • Drywall hanging

  • Drywall finishing

  • Acoustical ceiling systems

  • Commercial doors, frames, and hardware

• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents.

• Excellent measurement and layout skills.

• Knowledge of construction tools, equipment, and job-site safety practices.

• Strong problem-solving and attention-to-detail skills.

• Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a project team.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to manage crews and meet production schedules and deadlines.

• Valid driver's license.

• Ability to operate a smartphone or tablet for timekeeping and project-related tasks.

• Experience with PlanGrid and Procore applications.

• OSHA 30 certification or the ability to obtain OSHA 30 certification.

Supervisory Responsibilities

The Foreman will provide day-to-day leadership and supervision for assigned crews and is responsible for:

• Communicating project safety and security requirements.

• Conducting daily safety and production briefings.

• Monitoring crew productivity and work quality.

• Coordinating materials before delivery.

• Managing tools, equipment, and job-site resources.

• Ensuring installed work meets project specifications and quality standards.

• Maintaining a safe and productive work environment.

Work Environment

This position is primarily performed on active commercial construction sites. Working conditions may include:

• Exposure to varying weather conditions and extreme temperatures.

• Uneven terrain and elevated surfaces.

• Confined spaces.

• Construction dust and airborne particles.

• Loud equipment and construction environments.

• Work at heights using ladders and scaffolding.

• Required use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Physical Requirements

The position regularly requires the ability to:

• Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.

• Use hands and arms to lift, carry, push, and pull construction materials and tools.

• Frequently lift or move materials weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds .

• Climb ladders and scaffolding and work at elevated heights.

• Read plans, measure materials, and visually inspect alignment and workmanship.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position. Work hours may vary based on individual project schedules. Evening and weekend work may occasionally be required to meet project deadlines and construction requirements.

Travel

Travel is generally local to assigned commercial construction sites throughout the DMV area .

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Minimum 5 years of commercial drywall crew supervision experience .

• Valid driver's license.

• OSHA 30 certification or ability to obtain certification.

• Experience using smartphones/tablets for timecards and project documentation.

• Experience with PlanGrid and Procore preferred/required.

Additional Requirements

• Must be able to successfully complete a background check and drug screening .

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

• Certain projects may require U.S. citizenship based on contractual requirements.

• Certain government projects may have additional eligibility requirements.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $85,000-$120,000 annually, depending on relevant experience, geographic location, and project/contract requirements.
