Details Post Open Heart Recovery Unit also caring for thoracotomies, esophagogastrectomies, and TAVR patients Utilizes CRRT, Impella, and IABP Target patient ratios of 1:1 nights and 2:1 weekends Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 6:45 AM-7:15 PM) 36 or 48 hours per week available 13-26 week contract lengths accepted Floating required within or near the facility Every other weekend requirement Uses EPIC for documentation, PYXIS for medication management, and SBAR for communication Requirements Active NC or Compact RN license required (pending acceptable at submission) Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required Minimum 2 years of critical care experience required CVICU or open heart experience required Prior travel nursing experience required Required skills: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, ECMO, IABP, post cardiac surgery care, Swan Ganz monitoring, TAVR, LVAD/RVAD, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, continuous IV sedation, cardiac drip titration, ventilator patient care, ABG interpretation, and isolation precautions/PPE Preferred skills include port access/management, vasoactive drip titration, chest tube insertion/removal assistance, BiPAP/CPAP management, HFNC, and ventilator management Additional Information Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity cardiovascular ICU setting supporting complex cardiac and thoracic surgical recovery Hospital orientation occurs during the first week, with mandatory daily class attendance Navy or white scrubs, or a combination of the two, required Must work 2 of 3 major holidays Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved excluding holidays; no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment Additional RTO requests after signing are not permitted Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower rate Former Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before applying, with facility approval required Travel pairs allowed if assigned to different units and disclosed at submission First-time travelers will not be considered for this role American Traveler Job ID P-750786.
