Lead Software Engineer, Platform Identity

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, with at least 5 years of applied experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in reliability, scalability, performance, security, enterprise architecture, toil reduction, and other site reliability practices.
• Experience designing and building production services and APIs using clean, maintainable code, and fluency in at least one programming language such as Python, Java/Spring Boot, or Go.
• Proficiency with automation and infrastructure as code, such as Terraform or a similar templating language.
• Experience applying enterprise-authorized AI capabilities to SRE workflows, including incident investigation support and knowledge capture.
• Knowledge of observability, including service-level objective alerting and telemetry tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, or Tempo.
• Proficiency with continuous integration and delivery practices and tooling.
• Experience troubleshooting common networking technologies and issues.
• Experience leading the use of approved AI-assisted software development tools, with the ability to set standards for validating outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and safe, compliant adoption in delivery practices.
• Preferred: Experience with modern token- and assertion-based authentication and federation protocols.
• Preferred: Broader identity and access management knowledge, including authentication models, certificate and key registration and rotation, onboarding, and least privilege.
• Preferred: Familiarity with directory services and enterprise access platforms.
• Preferred: Experience with federated identity across corporate and public-cloud providers.
• Preferred: Public key infrastructure knowledge, including X.509, mutual TLS, and signing-key management and rotation.

• Design, build, and operate identity platform services and APIs from architecture through production.
• Lead data-driven initiatives to improve application and platform reliability and stability, identify bottlenecks, and improve service levels.
• Define service-level indicators with partners and establish appropriate service-level objectives and error budgets with customers.
• Build and maintain CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and deployment tooling; plan for capacity, failover, disaster recovery, and resilience across regions.
• Use enterprise-authorized AI tools to support major-incident triage, troubleshooting, and post-incident analysis, validating outputs and protecting sensitive operational data.
• Act as the primary application contact during major incidents.
• Partner with security and platform teams to maintain safe, compliant, and well-governed identity services.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers, lead resiliency design reviews, and break complex problems into manageable work.
• Lead adoption of reusable AI-assisted reliability practices across the software development lifecycle and toolchain, including CI/CD quality checks, testing, validation, and operational readiness, with appropriate traceability, auditability, resilience, and security controls.
• Encourage AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes, while setting consistent validation standards such as secure coding, peer review, and automated testing.
• Apply software development lifecycle tools, including authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase the value of automation.
