About the Role

The Company is seeking an Executive Director to lead its mission of advancing a cross-border meeting place as a symbol of peace, cultural exchange, and shared humanity. The successful candidate will be a strategic, culturally fluent, and politically savvy leader, responsible for translating the organization's vision into a clear, actionable strategic plan. This role involves balancing visionary leadership with pragmatic execution, particularly in the complex and evolving political and cultural environment of the U.S.-Mexico border. The Executive Director will be the primary spokesperson, engaging diverse stakeholders, and will be expected to have a deep understanding of the cultural, historical, and political dynamics of the border region, including immigration policies and intergenerational trauma. Key responsibilities for the Executive Director include strategic leadership, cross-border engagement, advocacy, resource development, and board partnership. The ideal candidate will have a history of success in nonprofit leadership, particularly in grassroots and advocacy settings, and a proven track record in fundraising and stakeholder engagement. They should be an exceptional relationship builder, a poised communicator, and a strategic thinker with a commitment to equity and inclusion. Fluency in English and Spanish is required, as is the ability to work in both the U.S. and Mexico, with a focus on the greater San Diego metropolitan area and Tijuana. The role demands a leader with high emotional intelligence, humility, and authenticity, who can lead with trust, credibility, and cultural sensitivity.
