CNC Operator - 3rd Shift

CNC OperatorSets up and operates one or more Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines, and other machines, within machine cell.The selected candidate will be offered a pay rate based on prior industrial experience, but not less than $23.66/hour to start. Hourly rate increases every 90 days based on performance within the training period of up to 18 months (depending on prior experience).The shift hours of this position are 8pm - 6am Sunday night - Wednesday night. Associates assigned to 3rd shift will receive $2.75/hr shift differential.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesSets–up and operates CNC machine and all other equipment in assigned CellTransfer commands from servers to computer numerical control (CNC) modules, using computer network linksMount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and workpieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instrumentsStop machines to remove finished workpieces or to change tooling, setup, or workpiece placement, according to required machining sequences. Finished workpieces may be lifted manually or with hoists and cranesMeasure dimensions of finished workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixturesListen to machines during operation to detect sounds such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration and adjust machines to compensate for problems, as well as monitor control panel displays and compare readings to specifications to detect malfunctionsFully responsible for preventive maintenance and proper usage of assigned machinery, tools, and component parts in assigned cellFollows Standard Work instructions and makes all programming and mechanical adjustmentsMay move from assigned cell to other cells at discretion of supervisorAdheres to all safety and health standardsParticipates in Kaizan events and seeks to continuously improve work processesAbility to perform next job below and above in value streamCritical CompetenciesKnowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenanceBasic measuring, math, reading and writing skillsKnowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and modelsKnowledge of Standard Process Controls (SPC)Mechanically drivenDemonstrated computer literacyDemonstrated knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammarPrevious experience conducting tests and inspections of products or processes to evaluate quality or performanceAbility to identify complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutionsAbility to follow directionsAttention to Detail —careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasksEducation and Experience RequirementsHS Diploma or GED required6 to 9 months on the job training or related vocational training program requiredPhysical Demand and Work Environment:Work environment includes regular exposure to noise levels at or above 85 decibels, dust particles, light radiation, paint or oil products, and weather changes. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be required to be worn during shift.Physical requirements include lifting, bending, kneeling, squatting, arm-hand steadiness, finger dexterity, manual dexterity, control precision, near vision, and hearing sensitivity.
