Special Education Assistants – Hutchinson, MN Job ID: 2411 Position Type: Support Staff / Special Education Assistant Date Posted: 6/24/2026 Location: District Wide Hutchinson Public Schools is seeking Special Education Assistants to join our team for the 2026-2027 school year and beyond. This position will work 165-175 days per year based on the school calendar and training and approximately 6.5 hours per day. Openings are available at all buildings. The salary range for this position is $19.59 per hour - $22.09 per hour. Salary is dependent upon education and experience. Special Education Assistants get to work directly with our students and can make a significant impact on our students' education experience. As a Special Education Assistant you will assist individual students who are on an Individual Educational Plan (IEP) by providing support, explanation, re‑teaching, and instructional help for students. Responsibilities Include: Carrying out the IEP goals as designed by the teacher. Help to reinforce teachings of the classroom teacher by working with students on a one-to-one basis or in small groups. Help students strengthen skills to become more independent. Assist the teacher with crisis problems and behavior management; observe, record, and chart behaviors. Conferring and planning with teachers to recommend ideas, identify problems, and aid in problem solving. Help the classroom teacher with recordkeeping of the student's progress. Conduct informal assessments to measure students' mastery of learned materials as directed by the classroom teacher. Maintain confidentiality standards by adhering to the district's data privacy policy. Required Qualifications (one of the following): Associate's Degree 60 semester college credits Passing score on one of the state‑approved tests (ParaEducator or ParaPro) Competency Grid Paid Holidays Retirement Plan with employer contribution Additional benefits may be available depending on the number of days and hours worked per year Looking for additional hours?
