Technical Specialist

This position will work 100% on-site in Southaven, Mississippi Works with the Technical Specialist II, Technical Specialist Coordinator, and the laboratory management team to provide direction for the technical operation of the laboratory, including operation maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments and assays. Validates and documents operational changes using the test life cycle process (TLCP). Provides direction for operational workflow, and serves as an expert resource for the work unit. Completes other projects or assignments as assigned. and serves as an expert resource for laboratory technologists. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship/we will not sponsor or transfer a visa for this role. Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F1 STEM OPT extension program. This position is a limited-tenure role intended to support the formation, launch, and stabilization of a new company and laboratory. As the organization maturing, the role is expected to transition to a permanent infrastructure position within a separate company operating independently from Mayo Clinic Laboratories. Responsibilities and schedules may vary as operational milestones are achieved with the anticipated post-launch schedules First Shift: 2:00 AM – 10:30 AM Second Shift: 10:30 AM – 7:00 PM Third shift: 7:00pm- 2:30am Tuesday–Saturday Bachelor's degree in clinical/medical laboratory science (CLS/MLS), medical technology (MT), chemistry, biological science from an accredited institution, or bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in addition to a certificate in MLS. Two years of relevant laboratory experience required. Additional Qualifications A HEW certificate may be substituted for the specified degree. Experience with operation and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments and assays. Capable of performing under time constraints, multi-tasking, and working in a fast-paced and changing environment. Demonstrates self-motivation, attention to detail and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to work independently. ASCP or other certification pertinent to the laboratory field may be required depending on the laboratory specialty and prevailing regulatory requirements.
