Accountant (AP or AR exp. req'd, 30 hrs/week, contract-to-hire)

An innovative nonprofit education organization that supports gifted students is looking for an Accountant to strengthen its finance team at its Sunnyvale, CA hub. Job Details Job Title: Accountant Job Type: Contract (6 months to 1 year, potential for direct‑hire) Location: Sunnyvale, CA – 100% on‑site Work Schedule: 30 hrs/week Pay Rate: $34–$36 per hour Key Responsibilities Manage accounts payable and daily accounting transactions. Prepare monthly journal entries and support the month‑end close process. Maintain prepaids, fixed assets, and account reconciliations. Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and other balance sheet accounts. Assist with financial reporting and maintain accurate accounting records. Help improve accounting processes and internal controls. Collaborate with leadership on day‑to‑day financial operations. Perform other accounting duties as assigned. Must‑Have Qualifications 3+ years of general accounting experience. Accounts payable (preferred) or accounts receivable experience. Nice‑to‑Have Qualifications Experience with Bill.com, Divvy, Veracross, and/or Xero Cloud software. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
