Medical Surgical Neuro Registered Nurse (RN)
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Surgical Neuro Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This role involves providing high-quality care to patients in a fast-paced neuroscience spine unit. The RN will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team while utilizing a team nursing model that includes RNs, LPNs, and Nursing Assistants (NAs).
Shift Information
- Schedule: 3x12 hour shifts
- Shift: Night (19:00 - 07:30)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend rotation
- Holiday Rotation: Yes, holidays are rotated
Patient Care Details
- Unit Capacity: 45-bed Neuroscience Spine Unit
- Neuro Progressive Care Unit (NPCU) with a 1:3 patient ratio
- Utilization of ceiling lifts, ICP monitoring, and cardiac monitoring in the NPCU
- Continuous EEG and lumbar drainage system capabilities
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of Medical Surgical Neuro experience required
- Current Minnesota state RN license required (not a compact state)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
Job Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, ensuring safety and comfort
- Collaborate with team members to deliver optimal care to patients
- Participate in the development and implementation of individualized patient care plans
- Utilize rapid response teams as needed
- Assist with patient education on treatment plans and recovery processes
Additional Information
- Requirement to float to other like units to meet facility needs
- Daily census typically ranges between 37-42 patients
- Interdisciplinary support available, including physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services
