Job TitleCertified Nursing Assistant (CNA)Job DescriptionCompensation: Minimum $15.50/hour; depends on experience and years of certificationQualifications:Attend all required Green House Education, including CORE and Communication for SuccessAbility to read and comprehend simple directions.Must use understanding, compassion, patience, tact and maturity in dealing with the elders, families and visitors.Graduate of an approved CNA program and holds a current Louisiana State CNA certification.Previous experience in geriatrics and/or long-term care preferred.Must have the physical strength required to lift 50 lbs. or more with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing 25 lbs. or more.Must be able to push, pull and/or continuously stand and walk routinely.Must be able to stoop, kneel and crouch. Stooping requires bending the body forward and downward by bending the spine at the waist. Kneeling requires bending the knees and resting one's weight upon the knees. Crouching requires bending the body downward and forward by bending the legs and spine.Job Specific Duties:Recognize and respond to the needs of EldersPromote autonomy of Elders in decision-makingMaintain confidentiality and privacy of Elder care, procedures, and documentationCommunicate with co-workers at all levels to meet the needs of EldersMeet with the Nurse and CSTMs as scheduled or needed to discuss Elders' needs and progress in identifying and correcting problemsObserve, monitor, and report to the Nurse any change in conditionDocument observed data per organization policyAssist Elders with personal care functions, including:Dental and mouth careBathingDressing and groomingHair careNail careShavingBowel and bladder careOther personal and hygiene careAssist with and/or perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures as outlined and assigned by the care plan and with appropriate trainingMeasure and record vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respirations, weight, height, and anatomical dimension/circumferenceAssist moving, positioning and transporting Elders into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc.Maintain a manual-lift free environment by utilizing the lift systems provided in the housesAssist with the application of slings, elastic bandages, binders, etc.Provide range of motion exercises as outlined and assigned by the care plan and with appropriate trainingPrepare and serve meals, between meal, bedtime and other nutritional snacks per the posted menu and the stated preferences of the EldersObserve standard precautions per organizational policyKeep all areas of the home clean, performing routine housekeeping dutiesMake occupied and unoccupied beds and change bed linensLaunder clothing, linen, and other articlesFollow established safety precautions and observe, monitor, and intervene in or report to the Guide any unsafe conditions.Assure Elder calls for assistance are answered promptlyReport accidents and incidents when they occurReport any abuse or suspected abuse to the Guide and/or Administrator immediatelyFollow established smoking regulations and report violationsAttend and participate in orientation programs, on-going training, and educational classesPerform other related duties as required by the ElderSeek counsel and assistance with problem solving from the GuideAssume Coordinator Roles (Team, Food, Housekeeping, Scheduling, Care), rotating positions at pre-determined intervals (See Care Partner Coordinator Roles)Attend Team meetingsComplete Quality Assurance Checklists and report on work and any identified areas of concern related to your accountabilities at Team meetingsWork with SMWT to solve any unresolved household problemsThe SMWT makes decision by consensusAttend and participate in Elder Care Conferences providing observations, achievements and concerns about Elder in your careWork with the CST to problem solve issues, such as preventing Elder fallsParticipate in peer evaluations of co-workersInvolved in interviewing and hiring new Care Partners, providing feedback to Guide, who makes the final hiring decisionEducationPreferred: High School or better.ExperiencePreferred: 1 year: Previous experience in geriatrics and/or long-term care preferred.Licenses & CertificationsRequired: Certified Nursing AsstEqual Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
