Optical DSP Intern (Masters/PhD)

Responsibilities Design simulation models for high-speed optical modem systems. Execute simulations and document technical results. Develop signal processing functions using MATLAB and C++ models. Analyze system performance and identify opportunities for optimization. Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams to review designs. Contribute design feedback and propose improvements to development processes. Apply digital signal processing methods to solve complex communication challenges. Qualifications Education: Master’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering OR Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, or working toward a Master’s or post‑graduate degree with a focus on digital signal processing. Application of engineering mathematics including linear algebra, FFT/IFFT, Laplace transform, Z‑transform, signal analysis, probability, and statistics. Programming skills using MATLAB, Python, and C or C++. Experience with debugging and problem‑solving techniques in engineering contexts. Ability to operate both independently and within multidisciplinary teams. Strong communication of technical concepts across varied audiences. Nice to haves Knowledge of optical system components such as DAC/ADC, amplifiers, IIR/FIR filters, equalizers, feedback loops, lasers, modulators, optical hybrids, and fiber systems. Pay Range $27.00-43.00/hour (specific to the primary location; varies by knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and location).
