PAY GRADE: AUX 9

PRIMARY PURPOSE: Technician AV is involved in the upkeep and maintenance of all District low voltage systems including fire alarms, intrusion, audio and visual equipment, and any other low voltage systems instituted by the District. The Technician will also be responsible for On Call District emergencies after hours. QUALIFICATIONS:

Required: ? High School graduate or GED Formal training in basic electronics Valid Texas Driver's license 5 years' job job-related experience Texas Fire Alarm License (FAL) - must be able to obtain. Preferred: 5+ years of progressively more responsible experience in the security system, Fire Alarms, and Communications industry.

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

Expert knowledge of the common hazards and necessary precautions, and equipment consistent with the trade. Expertise in planning and performing work of the trade at the full journey level. Possess knowledge and skill of the equipment, methods, materials, practices, and tools used in the Communications and Audio/Visual industry Strong written and oral instructions, diagrams, and manufacturer's manuals Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships Familiar with the current version of the International Fire Code and state and local fire code

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Duties: Oversees the operations to ensure completion of audio/visual and related duties necessary to keep the District's physical facilities in good repair and in use for their intended purpose. a) Prepare all assigned tasks to ensure the effective, safe, and efficient completion of job assignments. b) Purchase parts and materials as deemed appropriate when assessing requirements for assigned jobs. c) Supervise the daily operations of the Low Voltage team. d) Install, maintain, and repair all fire alarm equipment safely and securely. e) Oversee installation of new fire alarm systems in district facilities. f) Oversee the maintenance of athletic scoreboards, amplifiers for public address systems, automatic clocks, closed circuit television systems, intercoms, and related systems. g) Install, maintain and repair electronic equipment and control units for A/V systems; audio handsets; and communications centers and related wiring. h) Oversees installation and maintenance of other low voltage systems as adopted by the school district. i) Maintain accurate records for district systems. Including but not limited to the following; inspections, installation documents, drawings, and repair manuals. j) Provide training to district personnel. k) Maintain working relationships with authorities having jurisdiction; district safety director, maintenance director, and other district authorities. l) Implement code requirements and changes. m) Respond to emergency call-outs, as required (7 days week/24 hours a day). n) May be required to work night and/or varying shifts. o) Ensure vehicle has the appropriate tools and materials. p) Follows all safety regulations related to any and all trade areas. Audio/Visual Demands: Must-Have:

1. Average hearing
2. Corrected 20/20 vision

Work Environment:

1. Required to use chemicals
2. Noise levels are normal
3. Some outside work
4. Work inside with and without air conditioning, depending on the Facility requirements
5. Work alone as well as with team members
6. Rubber gloves and goggles are required when working with any

8. Back support belts should be worn when lifting

New Staff Members: 1. 1st day orientation__Hazardous Communications/MSDS/Fire Safety/Proper Lifting Techniques/Eye Safety. 2. Within (90) days will attend a Two-Hour Asbestos Training Awareness. 3. On going Staff Development. WORKING CONDITIONS: The usual and customary methods of performing this job require the following: ability to work in a fast-paced, high-intensity work environment efficiently and effectively with frequent interruptions. Job may require prolonged periods of time sitting, reaching andrepetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer. Overtime is required as necessary.
