Job Description

We are seeking a CockroachDB Database Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in designing, building, and operationalizing CockroachDB as an enterprise DBaaS on Linux and a proven ability to deliver secure, automated, and highly available distributed database services .

Responsibilities:

• Develop and enforce engineering standards, reference architectures, and best practices.
• Build automation frameworks using Ansible, shell scripting, and infrastructure-as-code for scalable, repeatable deployments.
• Design and implement self-service provisioning capabilities for application teams.
• Ensure high availability, performance tuning, monitoring, failover, and disaster recovery.
• Define and implement security, compliance, and governance controls aligned with enterprise policies.
• Serve as SME and escalation point for CockroachDB-related issues.
• Continuously improve platform reliability, efficiency, and developer experience.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Strong hands-on experience with CockroachDB architecture and administration.
• Deep understanding of distributed databases, including replication, consistency, and consensus models.
• Expertise in automation using Ansible playbooks.
• Strong shell scripting skills in Bash or Korn Shell for automation and operational tooling.
• Experience using AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot to write code.
• Experience with multi-region deployment architectures and high availability design.
• Database performance tuning, query optimization, and capacity planning expertise.
• 8+ years of database engineering experience in enterprise environments.
• Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code principles.
• Experience with monitoring, alerting, and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Splunk.
• Solid knowledge of backup, restore, failover, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Experience implementing security controls, encryption, RBAC, and compliance standards.
• Excellent collaboration and stakeholder communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with Terraform or similar IaC tools.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipeline integration for database provisioning.
• Experience in financial services or regulated environments.

Additional Details

• Glider: Candidate ID Verification.
• Hybrid schedule with a minimum of 3 days per week onsite.
• Role requires a specific start date due to business need.
• Hours per Day: 8. Labor Type: Technical.
• Maximum Submissions per Supplier: 5.
