Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct in-depth mental health assessments for elderly residents, identifying specific psychological and emotional care needs.

• Provide individual and group counseling sessions tailored to address emotional challenges such as depression, anxiety, grief, and life transitions related to aging.

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including social workers, nurses, and physicians, to develop comprehensive, personalized care plans that support the emotional health of geriatric clients.

• Educate staff and family members on effective strategies to enhance emotional well-being and improve the quality of life for elderly individuals.

• Facilitate grief and loss counseling for residents and their families, helping them navigate end-of-life issues with compassion and understanding.

• Implement cognitive stimulation programs and evidence-based mental health interventions to support the cognitive health of elderly individuals.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

Qualifications\n

• A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling or a related field from an accredited institution.

• A valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) certification in New York.
