General Production WorkerThis role supports a high-volume automotive manufacturing facility by operating production machinery, performing general labor tasks, and assisting across multiple departments that produce oil seals, gaskets, and PTFE components. You will work with a variety of machines and tools in a fast-paced, non-climate-controlled environment, contributing directly to the quality and output of critical automotive parts.ResponsibilitiesOperate various production machinery, including press machines and stamping equipment, in accordance with safety and quality standards.Perform general labor tasks such as sorting, kitting, assembly, and inspection to support overall production flow.Work across different departments, including gaskets, oil seals, and PTFE, as production needs require.Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring tools such as tape measures to complete assigned tasks accurately.Assist with machine setup and basic machine operation activities as directed by supervisors or leads.Handle parts and materials safely while maintaining a clean and organized work area in a dusty, dirty environment.Monitor machinery and production processes and promptly report any issues, malfunctions, or safety concerns.Follow all safety rules, including proper use of required personal protective equipment and adherence to plant procedures.Comply with attendance and call-out procedures, including using the designated phone number provided during orientation when reporting absences.Work scheduled shifts and overtime as needed, particularly in departments where overtime is common, such as oil seals.Essential SkillsExperience in production or general labor within a manufacturing or industrial environment.Ability to operate or learn to operate press machines, stamping machines, and other production machinery.Familiarity with hand tools and power tools used in a manufacturing setting.Capability to read and use basic measuring tools such as tape measures to ensure accuracy.Comfort working in hot, dusty, and dirty conditions, including near ovens and compression equipment.Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining attention to detail and quality.Willingness to work any assigned shift, including 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 10-hour shifts, and to work overtime when required.Reliability in following established call-out procedures and plant policies.Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift materials, and move around a busy production floor safely.Comfort working in a non-climate-controlled facility with exposure to heat from ovens and machinery.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in metal stamping or similar processes, particularly in environments with stamping and press machines.Background in operating or assisting with mold machines, compression machines, or ovens in a production setting.Familiarity with assembly and inspection processes in an automotive or industrial environment.Experience with forklift operation or other material handling equipment.Ability to read basic blueprints or production instructions.Previous experience in departments with coating and assembly processes is a plus.Strong work ethic, adaptability, and willingness to perform a mix of machine operation and general labor tasks.Why Work Here?You will join a stable manufacturing operation with multiple departments and shift options, offering opportunities to gain hands-on experience with a wide range of production processes and machinery. All departments are non-climate-controlled, dirty, and can be dusty, with certain areas—especially those with ovens—being very hot. The gaskets department features stamping and press machines along with coating and assembly processes and is known for relatively lower turnover. The oil seals department has many ovens and mold machines and frequently requires overtime. The PTFE department includes ovens and compression machines and operates on 10-hour shifts. You will use various tools and equipment, including hand tools, power tools, press machines, stamping machines, and measuring tools such as tape measures. Multiple shift options are available: traditional Monday–Friday shifts (1st shift: 6:55 am–3:00 pm, 2nd shift: 2:55 pm–11:00 pm, 3rd shift: 10:55 pm–7:00 am) and PTFE-specific Monday–Thursday 10-hour shifts (A shift: 6:55 am–5:00 pm, B shift: 4:55 pm–3:00 am). The dress code requires steel-toe footwear and allows jeans and regular plain T-shirts, while leggings are not permitted. The environment is fast-paced and production-focused, with clear policies for attendance and call-outs that require using the specific phone number provided during orientation.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Athens, AL.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.66 - $21.66/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
