Direct Jobs
Join Duke Family Medicine at our Pickens Clinic! Duke University’s Department of Family Medicine and Community Health is seeking a full‑time, board‑certified family physician (MD or DO) to join as core faculty at a nationally recognized academic family medicine residency program. As core faculty, you will practice family medicine with obstetrics, teach future physicians, and help shape innovative community‑based care in one of the country’s most desirable regions. Ideal Candidates Ideal candidates will be board‑certified in Family Medicine with demonstrated excellence in both clinical care and medical education. Either a fellowship in OB or current clinical practice rooted in OB will be required. Strongly preferred to have a background in or experience with community health. Both experienced and recently trained practitioners dedicated to providing compassionate patient care are encouraged to apply. Academic Responsibilities This role offers a dedicated 20% of academic time to be allocated for teaching, advising, faculty meetings, recruitment, curriculum development, rotation oversight, community engagement, and scholarship. The core faculty will be responsible for ensuring a high‑quality learning environment for our residents on prenatal care and intrapartum labor and delivery. Clinical Responsibilities Clinically, this role offers a broad scope, including outpatient continuity care, group prenatal care sessions, obstetrics (with L&D call), and newborn nursery care within a collaborative team‑based environment. At least 10% of this time will be dedicated to precepting residents in their continuity clinic, and in nearly all clinical settings the core faculty will serve in a teaching role and engage in bedside teaching across outpatient, labor and delivery, and newborn care settings. Clinical responsibilities can be tailored to align with individual expertise and evolving professional interests. Appointment Rank Appointment rank will be commensurate with experience and academic credentials. Faculty are encouraged to develop scholarly, educational, or clinical interests with mentorship, institutional support, and opportunities for academic advancement. It serves as a link to Duke’s tertiary medical center and the community, and it is modeled on a team‑based approach to care that focuses on patient needs and evidence‑based practice. Compensation & Benefits Duke Health offers a robust compensation plan that rewards clinical productivity and academic excellence.
