About the Position

Job Title: Respiratory Therapist Profession: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics Specialty: RRT Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:00) Experience: Minimum 4 years of experience required; open to candidates with 2+ years of experience. License: RRT, VA State License (pending accepted, must obtain temp before start) Certifications: BLS required, ACCS preferred Must-Have: Strong communication and critical thinking skills Description: This position involves providing respiratory therapy services to patients. The therapist will work within a multidisciplinary team and must demonstrate strong communication skills. Critical thinking abilities are essential to support patient care effectively. The role includes managing and interpreting arterial blood gases, intubation assistance, and utilizing various respiratory therapies. Knowledge of equipment and protocols such as BiPAP, CPAP, and high flow nasal cannula is required. Experience in charting systems, particularly Epic, is necessary for this position. The therapist must be familiar with emergency department protocols and patient transport processes. Candidates will be required to float between different sections as needed. There is a requirement to work every other weekend and holiday during the contract period. Flu vaccine is required, with no exemptions. The ability to troubleshoot and manage respiratory equipment, including alarms and ventilation weaning, is crucial. This role will naturally require flexibility with scheduling to meet the needs of the unit.
