Registered Nurse - CVOR

Job Description

Job Summary:
The CVOR RN is responsible for providing specialized perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing cardiovascular surgeries. This role involves preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative support in a high-volume surgical environment.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and assist in cardiovascular surgeries, ensuring adherence to sterile techniques and safety protocols.
• Scrub and circulate in the CVOR, providing support for thoracic, vascular, and general surgeries, including robotic procedures.
• Maintain precise charting using Cerner (PowerChart/SurgiNet) and ensure all documentation is accurate and complete.
• Collaborate with surgical teams, anesthesiologists, and other staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Manage on-call responsibilities, including 48-hour weekend shifts and weekday coverage, responding promptly to emergencies.
• Float as needed between hospital campuses, supporting multiple surgical units as required.

Qualifications:

• Active NJ or Compact RN license required at the time of submission.
• Minimum of 1 year recent CVOR experience in an acute care setting.
• Certified in BLS and ACLS, with documentation submitted upfront.
• Proven experience in cardiovascular, thoracic, and vascular surgeries, including CABG, valve replacements, TAVR, and VAD procedures.
• Ability to scrub and circulate in complex surgical environments with fiber optic and hybrid OR equipment.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in fast-paced, high-stakes clinical settings.
