Field Service Mechanic A

Job Purpose As a Field Service Mechanic A, you are a master technician who will lead product knowledge and quality standards within the branch. You will serve as a go‑to resource to keep the Herc fleet in operating condition at customer jobsites, working independently without direct supervision. Responsibilities Develop and maintain a consistent schedule for preventative maintenance of all Herc owned fleet at long‑term customer job sites. Perform oil changes, lubrication, tire replacements, hose repairs, battery replacements and other routine services. Diagnose and repair heavy equipment to ensure correct operating condition. Diagnose and troubleshoot fuel, electrical, hydraulic, and propane systems. Recondition and replace parts to restore equipment to safe operation. Educate customers on proper equipment use to prevent future breakdowns. Analyze wear or tear and address issues before the next scheduled visit. Follow all safety guidelines posted at active job sites. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Produce timely, detailed service reports and repair logs. Follow all company procedures and protocols. Build positive relationships with customers. Perform additional duties as assigned. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to operate and test equipment such as boom lifts, forklifts, compressors, generators, hydraulics, and pumps. Ability to understand technical schematics, owner’s manuals, and warning labels. Ownership of sufficient hand and air/electric tools to complete most repairs. Availability to be on call to support operational needs. Valid driver’s license. Skills Drive/operate multiple vehicles and equipment. Follow up with customers promptly. Use tools safely and effectively. Lift up to 50 lbs safely. Attention to detail. Customer service skills for interactions with jobsite foremen. Flexibility to adapt to changing jobsite needs. Effective interpersonal communication. Strong written and verbal communication; basic computer operation skills for work orders. Time‑management skills. Ability to work with all company levels. Schedule Mon – Fri, full‑time schedule. Pay & Sign‑On Bonus Pay Range: $29.00 – $36.00 per hour. Sign‑On Bonus: $5,000.
