Interim Controller

- Immediate need for an Interim Controller to lead accounting operations for a mid-sized healthcare organization (~$250M revenue)
- Contract engagement with potential to transition into a permanent leadership role
- High-impact opportunity supporting a mission-driven healthcare environment in a turnaround phase
- Lead all aspects of accounting operations , including general ledger, financial reporting, and cash management
- Drive a timely and accurate month-end close process , improving speed and quality of financial reporting
- Prepare and distribute internal and external financial statements for leadership decision-making
- Serve as the primary contact for the annual external audit , ensuring a clean audit process
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
- Provide financial analysis and insights to executive leadership and department heads
- Monitor accounts receivable aging and partner with revenue cycle teams to improve collections
- Support healthcare reimbursement and cost reporting (Medicare/Medicaid)
- Strengthen and maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures
- Lead and mentor a small accounting team (including senior accountant and AP staff)
- Participate in leadership and board-level financial reporting
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance leadership experience
- Prior experience in healthcare or hospital accounting required
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, audits, and reimbursement
- Experience managing month-end close and budgeting processes
- Hands-on leadership style with ability to operate both strategically and tactically
- Lean accounting team requiring a roll-up-your-sleeves leader
- Complex payor mix including government programs, commercial insurance, and self-pay
- Systems: ERP and healthcare EMR platforms
- 100% onsite role
- Immediate start preferred with a 2 month commitment
