DIRECTOR OF FITNESS & WELLNESS

And we're looking for someone pretty special to lead our Fitness & Wellness program. Yes, we want someone who knows fitness and wellness. Someone who understands programming, personal training, group exercise, emerging wellness trends and what a world-class fitness operation should look like. WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Our next Director of Fitness & Wellness will be equal parts leader, relationship-builder, operator and innovator. You should be someone who: Genuinely loves people and enjoys building relationships with Members and teammates. Creates an environment where Members want to spend time, not simply a place where they come to work out. Understands that wellness today is bigger than weights and cardio and is excited to continue evolving our programs. Is visible, approachable and engaged. Can build, coach and inspire a great team of fitness professionals, instructors and trainers. Brings energy and new ideas without feeling the need to change things simply for the sake of change. Understands budgets, programming, scheduling and the business side of a successful fitness operation. Collaborates naturally with other departments and doesn't operate in a silo. Is comfortable teaching a class, talking with a Member, developing a budget, coaching an employee or rolling up their sleeves when the team needs help. Has high standards without having a high ego. Can have fun while delivering at an exceptionally high level. Most importantly, we're looking for someone who believes culture matters.

WHAT YOU'LL LEAD

As Director of Fitness & Wellness, you'll be responsible for the overall leadership, programming and daily operation of the Fitness & Wellness experience at Desert Highlands. That includes: Developing creative and engaging fitness and wellness programming for a diverse membership. Leading our personal training, group fitness and wellness offerings. Recruiting, hiring, training, coaching and developing an outstanding team of fitness professionals. Building relationships with Members and continually listening for ways we can improve their experience. Ensuring our Fitness facilities are welcoming, exceptionally maintained and operated safely. Developing and managing departmental budgets, revenue goals and expenses. Evaluating trends, equipment, technology and programming that can enhance the Member experience. Working closely with our communications and marketing team to build participation and excitement around programs. Collaborating with leaders throughout Desert Highlands to create experiences that extend beyond the walls of the fitness center. Creating a culture of accountability, teamwork, hospitality and fun. And, like every leader at Desert Highlands, being willing to do whatever reasonable task is needed to help the team succeed.

WHAT YOU BRING

We're less interested in finding someone who checks every box than we are in finding the right person, but our ideal candidate will bring: A bachelor's degree in exercise science, kinesiology, physical education, recreation, wellness or a related field, or comparable professional experience. Leadership experience in fitness, wellness, recreation, hospitality or a related environment. Experience leading and developing teams. Current nationally recognized fitness certification(s). CPR/AED and First Aid certification. Strong knowledge of fitness programming, personal training and group exercise. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Financial and operational acumen. Comfort with technology and modern fitness/wellness platforms. Experience in a private club, resort or luxury hospitality environment is a plus— but great leadership and cultural fit matter more to us than where you've worked before.
