The Experienced Clinical Nurse at MD Anderson Cancer Center manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care. They impact quality of patient care, patient outcomes and use of resources in a designated area in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, an RN license and at least twelve months of recent RN experience in medical/surgical or an acute care setting. The candidate must be available to work either the Day/Evening shift (7am - 7pm), or the Evening/Night shift (7pm - 7am) with rotating weekends and holidays required. The Surgical Urology/Orthopedic unit is a 32-bed unit for an adult patient population. This fast-paced environment has rapid turnover for surgical procedures, which include postoperative prostatectomy, cystectomy, penectomy, nephrectomy, and orthopedic surgeries. Unique postoperative care of hemipelvectomy, flap monitoring, and testicular cancer surgeries are also managed on this unit. The team uses an interdisciplinary collaborative approach to patient care. Integrated in our nursing practice are tools used to maximize the skills of team members to achieve optimal outcome and improved healthcare quality. Hourly breakdown of salary range:
Minimum $32.70 - Midpoint $50.00 - Maximum $67.30 MD Anderson offers our nurses:
- Three 12 hour shifts per week, 1872 hours per year (minimum)
- Paid employee medical benefits (zero premium) starting on first day for employees who work 30 or more hours per week

Clinical Nurses relocating from 100+ miles from MD Anderson will also qualify for up to $10,000 in relocation assistance! • Trains, coaches and assists team members to ensure optimum patient care and efficient use of resources. Education Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
Education Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing would be a plus.
Experience Required: All clinical nurses with less than one-year registered nurse (RN) work experience will be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program. This position is not eligible for the residency program.
Experience Preferred: Must have at least one year of clinical nursing experience in an acute care setting.
Licenses/Certification Required: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN).
Licenses/Certification Preferred: Certification in oncology or other nursing specialty. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification as required by patient care area.
