Key facts Location: Spain Engagement: Part-time, project-based expert evaluation work Compensation: $45 - $80 per hour What you’ll do Develop and implement multi-file coding tasks that encompass bug fixing, feature development, refactoring, and testing to enhance the functionality of existing systems. Create clear and comprehensive natural-language specifications alongside reference implementations to guide the development process. Design, develop, and expand unit and integration test suites to ensure robust software performance and reliability. Conduct thorough reviews of peer-generated tasks, assessing them for correctness, clarity, and realism to maintain high quality in project deliverables. Identify edge cases, ambiguities, and potential failure modes in coding tasks to preemptively address issues that could arise in production. Ensure that there is a strong alignment between specifications, code, and expected outputs to guarantee that the final product meets the intended goals. Collaborate with other developers and stakeholders to refine project requirements and specifications based on feedback and testing results. Provide structured, actionable feedback during peer reviews to facilitate continuous improvement and learning within the team. Stay current with industry trends and advancements in software engineering and AI technologies to bring innovative ideas to the project. Manage your own schedule and workload, allowing for flexibility in balancing multiple projects and commitments simultaneously. Requirements A minimum of 3 to 7 years of professional experience in software engineering, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality projects. Strong proficiency in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript, with a working knowledge of additional languages such as Java, C#, or Go. Experience in backend or full-stack development within production environments, demonstrating the ability to build and maintain complex systems. Familiarity with testing frameworks such as pytest, Jest, JUnit, xUnit, or Go testing to ensure code quality and reliability. Demonstrated ability to debug and navigate large, multi-file codebases, effectively identifying and resolving issues. Experience in conducting code reviews, refactoring existing code, and managing production migrations to enhance system performance. Advanced written proficiency in English, enabling clear communication of technical concepts and specifications. A detail-oriented mindset with a focus on producing high-quality work and maintaining rigorous standards throughout the development process. Nice to have Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience working in an Agile development environment. Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud to enhance deployment and scalability of applications. Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices to streamline development and deployment processes. A background in artificial intelligence or machine learning, providing additional context for the tasks being evaluated and developed. Skills & tools Proficiency in programming languages including Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, C#, and Go. Experience with version control systems such as Git to manage code changes and collaborate effectively with team members. Familiarity with integrated development environments (IDEs) and tools that facilitate coding, testing, and debugging. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to tackle complex software engineering challenges. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
