Building Maintenance Technician

Job Description Synergy, a leading Boston commercial real estate investment and management firm, is seeking a Maintenance Technician . This individual will be a key member of our maintenance staff working under supervision, performing all maintenance duties and responding to work orders, tenant calls, and other operational/administrative duties for an urban-based office building as instructed. Responsibilities Monitors building system operations and performance. Utilizes several trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, heating and cooling. Provides support to work performed by outside contractors. Contracted work includes landscaping, snow removal, remodeling, HVAC, plumbers, and cleaning. Performs repairs, emergency and preventive maintenance. Completes maintenance and repair records as directed. Reviews assigned work orders, estimates time and materials needed to complete repair, and orders necessary materials and supplies. Maintains the building lighting system, including element and ballast repairs or replacements as directed. Performs carpentry, furniture assembly and locksmith tasks as needed. Responds quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications & Experience Experience in building maintenance and trade skills, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, EMS and other building mechanical systems. High School Diploma or equivalent. Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills. Computer literate in Microsoft Office and Outlook; experience with electronic work order and preventative maintenance systems. Valid Massachusetts driver’s license. Work Conditions & Physical Requirements Work to be performed both inside the property and outside with exposure to weather, fumes, electrical current and machine noise. Frequent walking, standing, bending, climbing, repetitive use of hands, power hand grasping, and reaching above and below shoulder level. Occasional sitting, squatting, crawling, kneeling. Ability to operate assigned equipment and machinery. May be required to lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds. Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly rate of $26–36/hr, may vary based on location and experience.
