Social Services Supported Community Living Specialist

This is a full‑time, sleeping overnight position located in Glenwood, IA. Working hours are Wednesday/Thursday 10:30 pm–8:45 am, Friday 10 pm–8 am, and every other Saturday 10 pm–8 am. This is a part‑time/full‑time, para‑professional level position, directly reporting to the Team Leader and the Director of Residential Services. Responsibilities Be available to the awake overnight staff for emergency evacuations of individuals. Provide a supportive and therapeutic atmosphere. Follow the assigned work schedule. Never leave individuals receiving twenty‑four hour care unsupervised. Attend staff meetings and scheduled in‑service training sessions. Maintain strict confidentiality of all written and verbal information about each individual. Document as needed. Essential Functions Be available in emergencies such as tornado, fire, civil defense, etc. Provide a supportive and therapeutic atmosphere. Exercise sound judgment when immediate decision‑making is required. Work according to the assigned schedule. Complete written and electronic documentation as needed. Comply with state and federal regulations regarding HIPAA. Protect PHI confidentiality; security clearance is assigned per job level. Qualifications Must not have or be a carrier of a serious infectious or communicable disease. Be at least 18 years of age. Exercise sound judgment in emergencies. Successfully complete pre‑employment physical, TB test, and drug screenings, and participate in random drug screenings thereafter. Physically capable of assisting individuals in balance recovery and transfers between positions. Willing to work with individuals who display aggressive outbursts of a physical nature. Ability and desire to work effectively in a team. Participate and cooperate with agency investigations; confidentiality will be respected. Physical Requirements Enter and exit resident homes that may not be fully accessible; walk up and down stairs carrying laundry duties. Work a full scheduled shift as assigned. Carry necessary supplies up to 50 pounds. Transfer individuals from one location to another (e.g., bed to wheelchair).
