Paralegal – Legal Services

• Location: State of Connecticut Office – Hartford area
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM
• Position Type: Full-Time Contract
• Pay: $23.80 per hour

Position Overview

A State of Connecticut office is seeking a detail-oriented Paralegal to support its Legal Services team with case management, legal documentation, research-related projects, and daily administrative operations. This role involves coordinating with attorneys and internal departments, maintaining accurate records, and tracking a high volume of legal requests and matters.

The ideal candidate has experience working with legal files, strong written communication skills, and the ability to stay organized while managing competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and enter matters into the appropriate system, including cases requiring additional processing.
• Prepare subpoenas or gather the information needed for their preparation.
• Coordinate and schedule hearings for adjudication cases.
• Assist with data access initiatives and other legal projects.
• Maintain accurate case records, logs, and status updates to monitor requests and project progress.
• Communicate in writing with courts, private attorneys, and internal departments regarding legal matters.
• Collaborate with the Legal Services team and business units to gather information, address requests, and support timely resolution.
• Provide day-to-day administrative and operational support to the legal department.
• Organize and prioritize assignments while adapting to changing deadlines and workload demands.

Qualifications

• Paralegal education or relevant experience supporting a legal department, law office, or similar professional environment.
• Familiarity with legal documentation, case files, litigation support, or legal case management processes.
• Strong written communication and professional correspondence skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to track multiple requests and assignments accurately.
• Sound judgment in prioritizing work and adjusting to shifting deadlines.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn internal databases and tracking systems.
• Ability to handle confidential information professionally.

Schedule & Assignment Details

• Full-time Contract, 40 hours per week.
• Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM.
