Senior Human Resources Generalist

ECS is seeking a Senior Human Resources Generalist to work in our Fairfax, VA (hybrid) office.

The Senior Human Resources Generalist supports complex employee and manager inquiries requiring policy interpretation, compliance review, and independent issue resolution. This role applies sound HR judgment, ensures consistent policy application, mitigates risk, and partners with HR leadership, Payroll, Benefits, and Legal as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Employee & Manager Support

• Serve as a primary point of contact for escalated and complex HR inquiries.
• Interpret and apply company policies consistently and in alignment with federal, state, and local employment laws.
• Provide guidance on HR system matters.
• Processes paperwork for functional area(s) according to established procedures
• Document and track cases to ensure timely resolution and accurate recordkeeping.

Employee Relations & Performance Support

• Conduct intake and initial assessment of employee relations concerns.
• Provide guidance on performance management and corrective actions.
• Improves manager and employee performance by identifying and clarifying problems; evaluating potential solutions; coaching and counseling managers and employees.
• Review involuntary separations for compliance, documentation sufficiency, and risk mitigation.
• Escalate high-risk matters to HR Business Partner and Legal as appropriate.

Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure consistent application of policies and regulatory requirements.
• Identify compliance risks and recommend corrective actions.
• Support audits, investigations, and documentation reviews.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to maintain compliance with employment laws and company standards.

Separation & Workforce Administration

• Review separation documentation for accuracy and policy alignment.
• Ensure compliance with final pay requirements and benefits notifications.
• Coordinate with Payroll and IT to support timely processing and system access termination.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

• Partner with HR Business Partners and leadership to identify trends and recurring workforce issues.
• Contribute to reporting and workforce metrics analysis.
• Support process improvements and development of HR resources, templates, and guidance materials.

Salary Range: $90,000-$115,000

General Description of Benefits

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum of five years of progressive HR experience at the HR Generalist level or above.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws (FMLA, FLSA, ADA, Title VII, etc.).
• Experience supporting employee relations and performance matters.
• Experience with HRIS platforms (ADP preferred).
• Strong documentation, analytical, and communication skills.
