Accounting Specialist
ASCENSION DEPAUL SERVICES
Job Summary: Computes, classifies, records, and verifies numerical data for use in maintaining accounting records payroll, and general ledger by performing the following duties. Responsibilities:
- Understands and Manifests the Philosophy and Mission of DCSSA.
- Compiles and records documents, such as cash & payroll transactions.
- Maintains General Ledger and Accounts Receivable Ledger.
- Maintains bank accounts, including deposits and reconciliations.
- Verifies and posts details of business transactions, such as funds received and disbursed, totals accounts to ledgers and other databases.
- Reconciles and resolves GL report discrepancies.
- Codes data for input to financial data processing system according to company procedures.
- Processes time cards, prepares payroll and maintains payroll records using ADP.
- Assists with preparation of Annual Budget.
- Assists with internal and external Audits.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Handles all accounts receivable related activities, such as reconciling deposits, entering payments, & adjusting AR balances needed.
- Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a deadline- driven environment.
- High School Diploma or equivalency.
- Minimum two years previous experience with Accounts Receivables & GL.
- Previous College courses in Accounting or Finance a must.
- Minimum of one year payroll experience.
- OMB Head Start accounting experience a plus.
- Average Excel Knowledge a plus.
- Professional, good customer service skills and ability to keep information confidential.
