Director, HR Consultant Lead, Corp Functions and JLLT

Director, HR Consultant Lead – Corp Functions & JLLT Role Overview: The HR Consultant Lead manages a pool of HR consultants, serving as the liaison between the HR Consultants and HR Business Partners (HRBPs). Responsibilities include people management, operational hub responsibilities, program execution, escalations, organization design support, rewards & compensation administration, employee engagement, employee relations, coaching managers, operating model improvement, and quality assurance. Core Accountabilities People Management Directly manage all HR Consultants in the pool – performance, development, engagement. Set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, conduct performance reviews. Identify development needs, build growth plans. Coach consultants through challenging assignments. Create a psychologically safe, high‑performance culture. Manage headcount planning, onboarding, and performance processes. Triage, Assignment & Workload Management First point of intake for work requests from HRBPs. Triage incoming demand, assign right consultant. Maintain visibility of team capacity and workload. Run team sprint cadence with planning, check‑ins, retrospectives. Flag capacity constraints or surges to leadership. HR Program Execution Partner with HRBPs and COEs on all HR cyclical programs. Escalation Handling First escalation point for consultants. Resolve escalations with HR expertise. Determine when to forward to HRBP or specialists. Maintain situational awareness across all active cases. Support Organization Strategy & Design Assist with implementation of organization design changes. Guide managers on redundancy conversations. Rewards & Compensation Administration Administer annual compensation cycle within guidelines. Manage promotion cycles and off‑cycle adjustments. Employee Engagement & Culture Programs Support rollout of engagement survey cycles. Help interpret results and build action plans. Coordinate recognition and cultural programs. Employee Relations & Risk Management Investigate and resolve escalated employee/manager issues. Apply policy‑aligned approaches, escalates to HRBP. Maintain accurate case documentation. Coaching Managers Coach managers on exceptional HR situations. Escalate strategic or executive‑level matters to HRBP. Operating Model Improvement Own quality and consistency of pool operations. Identify friction, lead improvements. Build reusable resources. Track performance data and improve processes. Share insights with broader HR community. Quality Assurance Review consultant output before delivery. Maintain standards across team. Ensure audit‑ready documentation. Qualifications Experience: 10+ years of progressive HR experience; at least 4 years in senior HR Consultant, HRBP, or team lead role. People Management: Directly managed, coached, developed HR professionals. Operational HR: Deep familiarity with full HR annual rhythm (performance, compensation, talent review, ER). Process Improvement: Proven track record improving processes and ways of working. Global Team Management: Experience managing global teams, knowledge of labor landscape in US, UK, India. Policy and Risk: Ability to handle complex or sensitive cases with policy‑aligned judgment. Skills & Attributes Exceptional people manager, operationally excellent, sound HR judgment. Clear communication, continuous improvement mindset, calm under pressure. Collaborative, peer level with strategic HRBPs. Technology savvy, champions change and adoption of smart tools. Education & Certification Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. Preferred certifications: SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR, or equivalent. Familiarity with HRIS platforms (e.g., Workday) and project management or workflow tools. Masters degree is a plus. Location & Compensation On‑site – Chicago, IL Estimated compensation: $123,200.00 – $154,000.00 USD per year.
