Controller

The Controller will lead all accounting and financial reporting functions for Cortex.This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, regulatory compliance and disciplined cost accounting across all company operations. Responsibilities Oversee the monthly, quarterly and annual close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP Prepare and review consolidated financial statements Establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures and documentation Partner with FP&A to support budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis Cost Accounting & Inventory Management Oversee inventory valuation and controls, including WIP and finished goods Ensure proper accounting treatment under ASC 330 (Inventory) Partner with operations to analyze cost drivers, improve margins and enhance production efficiency Internal Controls & Audit Design, implement and maintain a strong internal control environment, particularly in: Inventory tracking and shrinkage prevention Revenue recognition (percentage of completion) Lead external audits and coordinate with auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory examiners Develop scalable processes and controls in anticipation of growth or institutional investment System & Process Improvement Assist in implementation and continuous improvements of Acumatica (ERP System) Manage and optimize accounting functions in Acumatica (ERP System) Drive automation and process improvement initiatives to support rapid growth and operational scale Explore AI and advanced analytics solutions to streamline accounting processes, including but not limited to automated reconciliations and anomaly detection in inventory and cost data Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance 7–12+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3+ years in a Controller or leadership role Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting Experience with inventory-intensive and/or manufacturing environments Preferred Qualifications CPA Experience in private equity – backed or high-growth environments Working knowledge of Acumatica (ERP System) #J-18808-Ljbffr
