Located in downtown Nashville inside Dolly Parton's SongTeller Hotel, Dolly's Life of Many Colors Museum invites guests to step into the extraordinary story of Dolly Parton—her Smoky Mountain childhood, her music, films, philanthropy, and the values that shaped her life. Spanning more than 20,000 square feet, the museum takes visitors behind the scenes of iconic moments while celebrating the heart, humor, and generosity that define Dolly's legacy.

Position Summary

Retail Hosts focus on delivering an engaging and service-driven experience within the museum's retail spaces, helping guests extend their visit through meaningful purchases and interactions.

They create a welcoming, upbeat environment where hospitality and storytelling come together—ensuring every guest feels valued while contributing to a space that is safe, inclusive, and thoughtfully operated. Retail Hosts play an active role in supporting the financial success of the retail operation through thoughtful selling, product knowledge, and strong day-to-day execution.

What You'll Do

Guest Welcome & Service

• Greet guests warmly as they enter retail spaces
• Create an inviting, approachable, and energetic environment
• Assist guests with questions, product recommendations, and purchases

Sales & POS Transactions

• Operate POS systems confidently for purchases, returns, and exchanges
• Process guest purchases and ticket sales with accuracy and attention to detail
• Handle cash and card transactions responsibly, maintaining register accuracy and following proper cash handling procedures
• Contribute to sales performance through thoughtful selling, add-on recommendations, and connecting products to the guest experience
• Support daily sales goals while balancing guest needs with the integrity of the brand
• Demonstrate basic loss prevention awareness, recognizing unusual activity and escalating concerns as needed
• Troubleshoot basic POS issues and follow escalation procedures when necessary

Product Storytelling

• Help guests discover Dolly-inspired merchandise and souvenirs
• Share product knowledge that connects back to Dolly's story and brand
• Create interactions that feel personal and memorable rather than transactional

Visual & Operational Excellence

• Maintain clean, organized, and visually appealing retail spaces
• Restock merchandise and support visual displays
• Assist with opening and closing retail procedures

Events & Operational Support

• Assist with the preparation, execution, and breakdown of special events, including morning, evening, and after-hours programming
• Support retail operations during event-driven and high-volume periods
• Adapt quickly to changing needs while maintaining strong guest service and sales focus
• Support other Guest Experience Team roles as needed to ensure a seamless overall operation

Care of Space

• Maintain clean, organized, and guest-ready retail environments at all times
• Support light custodial tasks such as tidying, restocking, and addressing minor clean-up needs on the sales floor and in back-of-house areas
• Take shared responsibility for the overall presentation and care of retail spaces

Qualifications

• Previous customer service or retail experience preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment
• Ability to stand and move for extended periods
• Ability to lift and carry merchandise (up to 40 lbs) and work in both sales floor and stockroom environments
• Availability for weekends, holidays, and special events, including evenings as needed, especially during peak tourism periods.
