Legal Assistant - Employment & Labor Relations and Immigration

LHH is looking for a Legal Assistant to support the Employment & Labor Relations and Immigration Groups in a leading law firm's Detroit (Southfield) office. We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Legal Assistant with 3+ years of legal support experience who can provide proactive, high-level administrative and case support in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide skilled, proactive support to attorneys and paralegals within the Employment & Labor Relations and Immigration practices.
• Prepare, format, proofread, and edit legal documents, correspondence, memoranda, and other materials in accordance with firm standards.
• Manage attorney calendars, schedules, meetings, CLEs, time entries, reimbursements, mail, client contacts, and other administrative responsibilities.
• E-file documents in state and federal courts and assist with the billing process as needed.
• Create, maintain, organize, and retire files in accordance with firm information governance policies.
• Review and save attorney emails to appropriate client files as requested.
• Provide exceptional client service when interacting with clients, attorneys, vendors, and guests.
• Assist with immigration petitions and applications, including gathering required documentation and information from clients.
• Communicate with clients regarding case status and assist with inquiries to USCIS and other government agencies.
• Process correspondence from USCIS and the Department of State, including assisting clients with responses to notices and requests for evidence.
• Track immigration matters, deadlines, and expiration dates to ensure timely follow-up.
• Conduct factual and legal research using electronic and print resources.
• Correspond with government agencies, vendors, and clients at the direction of attorneys.
• Coordinate outside services such as translation and credential evaluation services and obtain vendor quotes as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive client and firm information.
• Effectively prioritize multiple assignments and respond to requests with a strong sense of urgency.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of legal assistant or related legal support experience strongly preferred.
• Experience supporting attorneys in employment/labor, litigation, immigration, or another legal practice area preferred.
• Familiarity with immigration petitions, applications, USCIS correspondence, and case tracking is a plus.
• Strong command of the English language, grammar, spelling, and proofreading.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and related applications.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Professional, client-service-oriented approach.
• Ability and willingness to learn new technology, software, and processes.

Salary: $65,000 - $85,000

Pay Details: $65,000.00 to $85,000.00 per year
