New Hire Starting Salary Range: $19.00 – $23.80 per hour base wage (Actual starting rate is determined by individual years of experience, see below).

About the Opportunity

This is a permanent, full-time clinical career opportunity for a Nursing Assistant to join a dedicated, fast-paced inpatient Neurology Unit within a premier regional healthcare system. Purpose

The Nursing Assistant delivers direct, compassionate patient care and key technical support under the supervision of Registered Nurses on the inpatient Neurology Unit. This role is essential for maintaining a safe, clean, and organized healing environment, monitoring patient status, and executing daily clinical tasks. Acting as a vital direct care provider, the Nursing Assistant supports patient recovery, safety initiatives, and seamless daily unit operations.

Responsibilities

• Direct Clinical Care & ADLs: Assists patients with all activities of daily living, including bathing, feeding, toileting, ambulating, turning, and precise physical repositioning.
• Core Technical Responsibilities: Obtains and records patient weights, vital signs, and intake/output (I&O) measurements. Conducts point-of-care testing (including blood glucose), performs urine specimen collections, and assists with basic Foley catheter care.
• Patient Safety & Monitoring: Applies, monitors, and removes patient restraints according to physician and hospital protocols. Implements diversional activities to reduce restraint use and provides dedicated, one-on-one companionship/supervision for high-risk patients when required.
• Therapeutic Environment & Maintenance: Conducts routine safety checks, sanitizes unit-specific equipment, changes bed linens, empties linen hampers, and ensures patient rooms, hallways, and supply areas remain clean, safe, and organized.
• Mobility & Intra-Hospital Transport: Safely transports patients throughout the facility using correct body mechanics and transfer techniques, utilizing standardized "ticket to ride" transport safety protocols.
• Supply & Equipment Management: Sets up approved patient care equipment, orders, stocks, and distributes clinical supplies within patient rooms and central supply areas, and promptly reports equipment malfunctions.
• Clinical Collaboration & Communication: Answers call lights and unit phones promptly, delivers patient nourishments, and immediately communicates physical or behavioral changes in patient status to the supervising Registered Nurse.
• Documentation & Compliance: Accurately documents all patient care activities, measurements, and checks in the electronic medical record (EMR) in strict compliance with safety policies, HIPAA regulations, and standard precautions.

Minimum Essential Requirements

• Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Professional Training: Successful completion of an approved Nursing Assistant training program.
• Core Skills: Solid foundational knowledge of safe body mechanics and patient transfer techniques, strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to handle changing unit priorities productively.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances

• Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential required
