Optometrist1 – Bascom Palmer Eye Institute Full‑time staff position located in Miami, Florida. Responsibilities Test, interview and examine patients with vision problems using optometric instruments to determine visual acuity, amplitude of accommodation, refractive state and biocular coordination. Employ low‑vision aids, including telescopic and microscopic lenses, to correct sub‑normal vision. Determine proper remedial alternatives, discuss, and interpret findings with patients. Refer patients with possible pathological conditions to an ophthalmologist and consult on complex cases. Calculate appropriate prescriptions using applicable formulas. Instruct resident ophthalmologists and paramedical personnel in ophthalmic instrumentation and procedures. Assist in development and implementation of the optometry budget. Adhere to University and unit‑level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets. Qualifications Doctorate degree in Optometry (OD) required. Credentialing by the University of Miami. Demonstrated learning agility to adopt new procedures and technologies. Strong teamwork skills, able to work collaboratively with others. Technical proficiency in office software, technology, and relevant computer applications. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
