Job Summary The RCDD Cable Design Engineer will provide design and engineering activities for all structured cabling, technology room/raised floor areas, backbone/riser and lateral distribution systems. Direct responsibilities include estimates and scope development, design documents, bid analysis, RFP development, field surveys, and validation of as-built drawings. The engineer must possess knowledge of building codes and regulations, participate in project close‑out support, and play a part in project implementation and validation services for cable infrastructure across all technologies, services, and projects. Baseline knowledge of Wide Area Networking, Data, IP Networks and Voice is a plus. Key Responsibilities Develop strategies and solutions aligned to business requirements that utilize department standards, product sets, templates, systems, and artifacts. Create and communicate structured cabling standards to partners, stakeholders, and lines of business. Participate in project‑related interviews and discovery with lines of business and technology design team members. Translate business requirements into functional technology requirements. Liaise with 3rd parties and represent the organization in developing optimum solutions and ratifying designs. Interface with GC, MEP Engineering, and Architectural firms. Oversee Communications Construction Management and cabling contractor activities, providing direction to address site‑specific construction issues. Participate in all aspects of the infrastructure acceptance process. Provide support to technology project managers during adoption of new infrastructure. Maintain quality assurance throughout the entire end‑to‑end project lifecycle and be responsible for the quality of the service outputs. Create budgets and estimates and provide accurate job descriptions with required hours for completion. Understand project delivery lifecycle management, detailed design, test and certification methodologies, risk assessment/mitigation, and validation plans and procedures. Maintain and adhere to department policies regarding asset tracking, inventories, chargeback, documentation, and related systems, tools, and processes. Collaborate across time zones with a flexible approach to working hours, including weekends. Participate in establishing technical testing criteria aligned to industry best practices. Required Skills 15+ years of experience creating structured cabling solutions, designs, and standards in a data center environment; commercial infrastructure experience desirable. Strong background in IT service delivery roles (engineering support for projects). Experience with multi‑vendor solutions and manufacturers, primarily Corning and CommScope. Participation in design and implementation of major IT projects. Experience with hierarchical network design strategies (WAN, CORE, AGGREATION, etc.). Knowledge of ISO/IEC, CENELEC, and BICSI structured cabling standards and familiarity with regional implementations. Proficiency in modifying designs to meet customer‑driven requirements and unique installation challenges. Proficient with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office suite including Outlook. RCDD certification. Willingness to travel. Desired Skills Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, related field or technical training. Management experience. Knowledge of Audio Visual and Security infrastructure cabling, systems, and distribution. Proficiency in other languages. Familiarity with Visio. Experience in process re‑engineering efforts (ITIL, Six Sigma, MOF/MSF, etc.). Shift & Hours 1st shift (United States of America) – 40 hours per week. #J-18808-Ljbffr
