SAFETY COORDINATOR

Position Overview We are seeking a Safety Coordinator for a 3‑to‑6‑month contract to cover a maternity leave at our Davison, MI manufacturing facility. This role will drive safety as a top priority, interacting with a team of 25‑50 full‑time employees. The Coordinator will serve as a working team member and individual contributor, providing safety expertise and coaching to leadership and staff to ensure seamless, compliant operations. Employment Type: Full‑time, Contract (3‑6 months maternity leave cover) Compensation: $25.00‑$28.00 per hour (depending on experience) Location: Primarily on‑site in Davison, MI (at least 4 out of 5 days per week) with minor travel to Auburn Hills up to once a week. Work Environment: In‑person manufacturing and industrial environment. Responsibilities Assist in developing, managing, and communicating company safety policies, initiatives, and branch safety KPI programs. Perform regular facility and job site safety inspections; evaluate hazards, and provide real‑time coaching and training to correct deficiencies. Conduct or coordinate safety training, audit training quality, maintain records, and ensure strict compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Act as the first point of contact for injuries, guide the process to ensure proper care, and conduct thorough accident/incident investigations to implement corrective actions. Participate in the Safety Committee, issue safe work permits, and actively identify areas to reduce occupational accidents and financial losses. Skills This position requires intermittent periods of continuous physical exertion, including walking, standing, stooping, climbing, and lifting material or equipment (some of which may be heavy or awkward) appropriate for a manufacturing plant setting. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in construction safety, occupational health and safety, or a related field is preferred but not required. Minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated experience with hands‑on safety responsibilities. Industrial OSHA 30, OSHA 511, or OSHA 502, alongside thorough knowledge of OSHA safety standards. Professional Health & Safety (H&S) certifications or outreach trainer credentials are highly preferred. Capacity to communicate effectively and collaborate professionally across all levels of the organization.
