About the Position

Job Opportunity – Medical/Surgical Telemetry RN – Wisconsin

Start Date: October 12, 2026

Location: Madison, Wisconsin

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Day/Night rotating 12-hour shifts (0700-1930, 1900-0730) with every other weekend rotation and holidays as needed. Rotators will not be scheduled to flip between days/nights more than 2 times in a 6-week scheduling period. Employees will be scheduled for 36 hours off between the end of a scheduled night shift and the beginning of a scheduled day shift for patient care.

Highlights:

• Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit serving adult and geriatric populations with a variety of conditions under the Family Medicine service
• 25-room unit with a daily census of approximately 20 patients
• EPIC charting system experience required
• Magnet-designated facility ranked as Wisconsin's #1 hospital and recognized nationally as a leading teaching institution and referral center
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and more
• Specialized experience with Department of Corrections patients; unit includes secure locked wing with DOC officer accompaniment

Requirements:

• Current RN license required
• BLS certification required (American Heart Association only)
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in medical/surgical or telemetry specialty
• EPIC charting system experience required
• Proficiency in starting and maintaining IVs required
• Must pass telemetry examination prior to start with strict passing criteria: 100% identification of lethal rhythms, no incorrect answers on 3rd degree heart block questions, and 80% overall passing score
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• Floating to other units as needed

Key Clinical Skills:

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Central line blood draw, PICC line management, and port access
• IV therapy, PCA pumps, heparin and insulin administration
• Wound care including wound vac management
• Feeding tube care, surgical drain management, and isolation precautions
• Substance withdrawal management
• Experience with law enforcement/corrections patient care preferred
