Property Accountant - Full-Time, On-Site

Position Summary

We are a property management company seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Property Accountant to join our team on a full-time, in-office basis.

This position is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional who has a strong understanding of full-cycle accounting and is capable of independently managing and taking ownership of the company’s day-to-day accounting functions.

Strong Yardi experience is a MUST for this position. Experience with Yardi Genesis2 is highly preferred.

The ideal candidate should be comfortable working independently, maintaining accurate financial records, meeting deadlines, identifying discrepancies, and ensuring that all accounting responsibilities are completed accurately and on time.

Key Responsibilities

Manage full-cycle accounting for multiple properties/entities

Handle accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR)

Enter, review, and process invoices and vendor payments

Maintain vendor records and reconcile vendor accounts

Post and reconcile tenant rent payments and other receipts

Perform bank and credit card reconciliations

Maintain accurate general ledger entries

Prepare and review journal entries

Manage intercompany accounting and transactions

Assist with cash management and account balances

Coordinate and process payroll-related accounting

Review payroll reports and properly allocate payroll expenses

Prepare monthly financial reports and financial statements

Review general ledger activity and investigate discrepancies

Maintain accurate property-level accounting records

Handle accounting related to conventional and HUD/Section 8 properties

Post and reconcile HUD/HAP payments and related tenant transactions

Maintain accurate supporting documentation for accounting transactions

Assist with month-end and year-end closing

Work with management, outside CPAs, tax professionals, auditors, and other financial professionals as needed

Ensure accounting tasks are completed accurately and within required deadlines

Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies or outstanding items

Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation

Perform other accounting and financial responsibilities as required

Required Qualifications

Strong working knowledge and hands-on experience with Yardi is REQUIRED

Yardi Genesis2 experience is highly preferred

Strong knowledge of full-cycle accounting principles and procedures

Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations

Ability to prepare and review financial reports

Experience with property management accounting

Ability to independently manage multiple accounting responsibilities and deadlines

Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

Ability to research and resolve discrepancies independently

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other standard accounting/office applications

Ability to communicate effectively with management, employees, vendors, and outside accounting professionals

Position Requirements

This is a full-time, on-site position. The selected candidate must be able to work from our office during regular business hours.

This is not a remote or hybrid position.

We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the accounting role, understand the company’s accounting activity from beginning to end, and ensure that financial records remain accurate, organized, and current.
