Empath Health is seeking a creative, compassionate, and talented Communications Specialist to help tell the stories that matter most. In this role, you'll create meaningful content that educates, inspires, and connects patients, families, team members, and communities across our organization. From producing engaging social media content and videos to developing educational resources and internal communications, you'll play a key role in bringing our mission to life through authentic storytelling.

This is an exciting opportunity for a communications professional who thrives in a mission-driven environment and understands how to communicate with empathy, sensitivity, and purpose. The ideal candidate is a skilled writer, digital content creator, and storyteller with experience in healthcare or nonprofit communications.

This is a hybrid position. Candidates must reside within commuting distance and be able to report to one of our Empath Health locations in Pinellas, Hillsborough, Manatee, Sarasota, Palm Beach, or Broward counties, as needed.

What You'll Do

• Create compelling content across social media, blogs, newsletters, internal communications, videos, and educational materials that engage and inform diverse audiences.
• Produce and manage content for platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube, while monitoring engagement and community interactions.
• Interview patients, families, team members, volunteers, and community partners to develop authentic stories that showcase Empath Health's mission and impact.
• Translate complex healthcare information into clear, accessible, and compassionate messaging for patients, caregivers, and staff.
• Partner with clinical and operational teams to ensure content accuracy, brand consistency, accessibility, and compliance with privacy standards.
• Monitor content performance and audience engagement metrics to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and growth.

What You'll Need

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field preferred.
• 3-5+ years of professional communications experience, including healthcare or nonprofit communications experience.
• Demonstrated success creating social media content, digital storytelling, and video content for platforms such as Instagram Reels, YouTube, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability to adapt messaging for different audiences and communication channels.
• Proficiency with content creation and design tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, Photoshop), or similar platforms.
• Strong understanding of culturally sensitive communications, accessibility best practices, HIPAA privacy considerations, and communicating about serious illness, grief, and end-of-life care with empathy and professionalism.
