Public Relations Tourism Assistant

Charlotte County Tourism is seeking a part-time public relations assistant to support public relations, media relations, tourism partnerships, hosted media experiences, special events, and promotional initiatives for the Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach Visitor & Convention Bureau. Key Responsibilities Build relationships with tourism industry partners, travel journalists, and social media influencers. Assist with recruiting and coordinating hosted media and Familiarization tours, including itineraries, accommodations, transportation, dining, and attractions. Draft and proofread press releases, media pitches, and editorial responses. Research tourism trends and identify media and promotional opportunities. Collaborate on social media and content development. Monitor and track media coverage and share results with tourism partners. Prepare media kits and promotional materials and assist with public relations events. Support tourism programs and special events, including the Annual Tourism Celebration and Event Development Program. Maintain records, process related expenditures, prepare reports, and provide general administrative support. Provide exceptional customer service and professional communication to partners, media, vendors, and the public. Education and Experience: An equivalent combination of relevant training, education and experience: Preferred: Communications Marketing Public Relations Media Two (2) years of experience in public relations, digital marketing and social media. Preferred Qualifications: Ability to speak, read, and write in German and/or Spanish.
