User Experience Designer, AI Solutions

Job Overview McDermott, Will & Schulte LLP is building one of the most ambitious AI programs in the legal industry. We’re looking for a UX Designer to serve as the design authority across our AI Solutions Delivery team. Responsibilities Serve as the UX authority for the AI Solutions Delivery team, advising analysts on design approach, interaction patterns, and user experience strategy. Review AI‑generated UIs produced via AI‑assisted development platforms, providing precise, actionable design direction to iterate toward production quality. Drive UI design directly for high‑visibility or complex solutions, taking ownership from concept through delivery. Establish and maintain UX standards and design patterns across the firm's growing library of AI‑powered tools. Conduct lightweight user research and stakeholder feedback sessions to validate design decisions with attorneys and operational teams. Champion accessibility, consistency, and usability across all solutions, ensuring AI tools are intuitive for legal professionals. Stay ahead of evolving AI interface patterns, conversational UX, and agentic workflow design, bringing emerging best practices to the team. Qualifications 3+ years of UX or product design experience, with a portfolio of shipped digital products. Strong design judgment – ability to evaluate any interface, articulate what works and what does not, and direct iterative improvement. AI fluency – regular use of AI tools, understanding of their output and ability to direct AI‑assisted design workflows. Experience designing for complex workflows – multi‑step processes, data‑dense interfaces, or tools used by professional or expert users. Excellent communication and advisory skills – able to explain design decisions to non‑designer stakeholders and developers. Solid grasp of accessibility standards, responsive design, and web UI fundamentals. Bachelor’s degree in Design, HCI, Computer Science, or equivalent experience. Preferred: Experience designing conversational interfaces, AI agents, or prompt‑driven workflows. Preferred: Familiarity with AI‑assisted development and design tools, including code‑generating and UI‑generating platforms. Preferred: Exposure to legal, financial, or other professional services environments. Preferred: Experience contributing to or establishing a design system in a fast‑moving organization. Compensation & Benefits Target hiring range: $110,000 - $169,000. Full‑time positions eligible for discretionary bonus and comprehensive benefits package. Performance‑based bonuses may apply.
