Insurance Collections Specialist

Gastro Health is Seeking a Full‑Time Insurance Collections Specialist Consistent hours – Monday through Friday, no weekends or evenings. This Role Offers Great work/life balance No weekends or evenings – Monday through Friday Paid holidays and paid time off Rapidly growing team with opportunities for advancement Competitive compensation Benefits package Responsibilities Act as liaison between health care providers, patients, and revenue sources to ensure accurate charges and up‑to‑date records. Maintain active communication with insurance carriers and third‑party payers until accounts are paid. Negotiate payment of current and past‑due accounts via direct telephone and written correspondence. Update patient account information. Monitor and identify payer denial trends and problem accounts; report patterns to supervisor. Run a monthly aging report based on date of service and current A/R to identify accounts requiring follow‑up. Manage all assigned work‑list on a daily basis for assigned insurances. Utilize collection techniques to resolve accounts according to company policies and procedures. Report any coding‑related denial to the Coding Specialist. Perform other duties as needed (e.g., faxing information, generating retroactive authorization requests, verifying medical eligibility). Conduct necessary research to ensure proper reimbursement of claims. Assist with special projects assigned by Billing Manager or Supervisor. Minimum Requirements High school diploma or GED equivalent. At least 2 years of experience in insurance collections. Knowledge of medical terminology used in collections and billing (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS). Experience with letters of appeal. Intermediate experience with Microsoft Excel and Office products. Experience with HMO, PPO, and Medicare insurances. Ability to read, interpret, and apply regulations, policies, and procedures.
