Pay: $18.88 - $22.50 / hour, based on experience. Candidates with extensive specialty billing experience may be considered at a higher rate.


Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7.5 hour workday with a 30 - minute unpaid lunch. Flexible start time between 8:00 - 9:00 AM. Hybrid schedule of 3 days in office and 2 days remote after approximately one month of training.

Job Description:


The Medical Billing Specialist will be responsible for supporting the full medical billing process, including claim preparation, denial follow-up, account research, and patient communication. The ideal candidate will have healthcare billing experience and strong attention to detail.


Key Responsibilities:

• Review patient accounts and insurance information to ensure claims are accurate and ready for submission.
• Prepare and process medical claims while identifying missing or incorrect information.
• Communicate with providers and internal departments to obtain documentation needed to complete or correct claims.
• Investigate denied and rejected claims and determine appropriate next steps for resolution.
• Make necessary claim updates, corrections, and follow-up to help ensure timely reimbursement.
• Respond to patient calls and assist with questions related to billing, claims, and account balances.
• Maintain accurate billing records and documentation.
• Follow established billing procedures and payer requirements.

Qualifications:

• Previous medical billing experience preferred.
• Medical Billing and Coding certification is preferred but not required.
• Experience with Podiatry, Physical Therapy, Behavioral Health, or OB/GYN billing is a strong plus.
• Knowledge of insurance claims, denials, and reimbursement processes.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Candidates should live within approximately 30 minutes of the North Chicago office.

• Approximately one month of onsite training before transitioning to the hybrid schedule.
