Applicants MUST be current students at DigiPen Institute of Technology to qualify for this position. Student Employment at DigiPen is open to all currently matriculated students if they meet the qualifications for the job. Students may not work during any time when they have a class scheduled , a class is canceled , or a class ends early . Student workers must reside within the State of Washington. Remote work outside of Washington will not be permitted. Job Title: Student Government Executive, F26 Reports to : Beth Chaney-Torni, Director of Student Engagement DSU Executive Responsibilities: 1. Membership: a. The DSU Executive Board shall consist of the following roles: i. President ii. Vice President of External Affairs iii. Vice President of Academic Affairs iv. Vice President of Communications 2. Designated Leader: a. The DSU President shall be the designated leader of the Executive Board. 3. Powers and Duties: a. The Executive Board shall act as the guiding body of the DSU. b. The primary duty of the Executive Board should be to represent the DSU and fulfill specific duties outlined in the Bylaws, ARTICLE 1: Duties of the Executive Board c. The Executive Board is to receive, review, and act upon requests, proposals, and announcements brought to the Executive Board to further the mission of the DSU. d. While DSU activities are suspended, the Executive Board shall assume the powers of those councils to the extent necessary to preserve the functionality of the DSU. i. Action taken on behalf of another council must be approved by the Advisor. ii. Action taken must be presented to the first meeting of that council after its suspension. iii. The council will have the ability to amend changes made by the Executive Council by a simple majority vote. e. Powers to appoint a vacancy pursuant to ARTICLE 14: Vacancy are vested in the Executive Board. f. The Executive Board may vote to suspend recording of public minutes in order to consider and conduct business whose privacy is determined to be vital. 4. Duties of all Executive Officers a. Act in the best interest of the student body and fulfill the goals and obligations of the DSU. b. Support the collective efforts, initiatives, and programs of the DSU by supporting the work of other executive officers. c. Be officially available to the Student Union for at least 5 hours per week, excluding midterms and finals week. Being officially available to the Student Union includes, but is not limited to, the following: i. Holding posted Office Hours either in person or virtually (via Teams or other means widely accessible to the Student Union). ii. Attending General Assembly Meetings. iii. Attending Executive Board meetings. iv. Tabling as a DSU representative in a public space on campus (such as the Bytes Cafe entryway). v. Meet with the Advisor on a regular basis, informing them of tasks, projects, inquiries, and areas where assistance is needed. d. Support DSU recruitment and advertising efforts for General Assembly meetings and elections. e. Transition documentation must be completed by all officers regardless if running for re-election before the end of Summer semester. i. Transition documentation must include, but is not limited to, the following:

1. A summary of your regularly assigned duties.
2. Contact information for any individuals/groups with whom you have corresponded as a representative of DSU.
3. A semesterly or monthly timeline of when duties should be completed.
4. Advice for the incoming executive to be successful in their role.
5. Executive’s name and contact information, should the incoming executive require clarification.

ii. Transition documentation should be directly sent to the incoming Executives, as well as stored on the DSU Google Drive in the Transition Documents folder. f. Current Executive Board must meet and discuss DSU and all transition documentation with the newly elected officer of the same position before the end of Spring semester, or during the Summer semester. g. The Executive Council will host an annual student-led Town Hall to be conducted during the Spring semester. The Executive Council will moderate and lead the Town Hall. h. Report any violation of the Constitution or Appeal to the Advisor and President to investigate and, if necessary, initiate action. i. Manage respective events in the DSU portion of the Campus Groups app 5. Duties of the President a. Lead the DSU in fulfilling its duties and responsibilities. b. The President shall be the official representative of the DSU to the Chief Operating Officer Redmond, Dean of Students, Dean of Faculty, Facilities, and other administration officials with regard to all official DSU business, both formally and informally, on behalf of students and shall cultivate and maintain relationships as necessary to facilitate communication and representation of DSU to DIT Redmond. c. Head and preside over all Executive Board, Student Department Liaisons, and General Assembly meetings. The President shall also set the agenda for each DSU meeting in advance to be published to the student body. The given meeting agenda may be revised during the course of the week and during the meeting as necessary. d. Enforce the DSU Constitution and By-Laws, including the initiation of Judicial Procedures. 6. Duties of the Vice President of Academic Affairs a. Lead the DSU’s efforts to ensure the academic success of students and improve communication with faculty. b. Oversee the Committees, standing and ad-hoc. i. Provide resources and direction to Committee-designated leaders when requested. ii. Ensure that updates on committee activity are reported to the Student Union and archived in DSU records. c. Advise and lead the Student Department Liaisons in their work through regular communication and meetings. i. Provide resources and direction to Student Department Liaisons when requested. ii. Empower and support Student Department Liaisons to advocate on behalf of their constituents to DIT faculty and staff but act as a further liaison as necessary by the scale of issues. d. Coordinate and attend all program Town Halls, working with faculty department chairs and other relevant faculty, and promote the Fall semester degree Town Halls and the Spring semester student-led Town Hall. e. Remind Student Union of the mid-semester and end-of-semester course evaluations, stressing their importance for effective communication. 7. Duties of the Vice President of External Affairs a. Lead the DSU’s efforts to improve student engagement with the greater community, industry professionals, and alumni. b. Lead the LAN Committee for the planning and execution of the annual Fall and Spring LAN parties. i. Oversee the DSU portion of the Student Engagement Fee as it pertains to the LAN Parties. ii. Liaise with RSO leaders to solicit interest in participating in LAN Parties. iii. Liaise with Career Services and industry professionals to encourage attendance at LAN Parties to playtest student games. c. Plan, advertise, and execute the annual Student Life Excellence Awards. d. Create opportunities for students to connect with industry professionals and expand DigiPen’s footprint in the community. e. Manage events in the DSU portion of the CampusGroups app 8. Duties of the Vice President of Communication a. Lead the DSU’s efforts to inform the student body of DSU business through permanent digital record keeping of meeting agendas, statements and motions made, outcomes of votes and elections, meeting times and reports of councils and committees, financial transactions and budget status, and legislation. Records are to be distributed widely to the DIT Redmond community. b. Maintain and update the CampusGroups page and Google Drive with records, information, and advertisements. c. Develop and distribute the student census, to be shared during Fall and Spring semesters. d. Head the Constitution-Revision-Committee charged with reviewing and updating the Constitution and By-Laws as necessary on an annual basis. i. This work will be completed in a timely manner coinciding with spring elections. Changes to the Constitution will be presented to and approved by the Executive Board and Student Department Liaisons before being made official. e.
