Life.Church wants to make a lasting difference in your life, in our community, and in the world. Our mission is to lead people to become fully devoted followers of Christ. That's how we’re able to make a difference, and it's the driving force behind everything we do. The Volunteer Onboarding Specialist is primarily responsible for developing and executing strategies to support an excellent onboarding experience for YouVersion volunteers. This role will work cross‑functionally with YouVersion Volunteer Managers (staff) and their teams to establish a standardized volunteer onboarding and screening process, conduct screening calls, and facilitate training with volunteer applicants. The specialist utilizes their skillset to deliver outcomes that align with the direction of their team to further Life.Church’s mission and to reach people for Christ. What You’ll Do Partner with YouVersion Volunteer Operations, Community Care, and Team Leaders to build a centralized volunteer onboarding workflow. Refine and implement organization‑wide YouVersion volunteer onboarding communication. Scale the volunteer onboarding process to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. Track onboarding timeline from application to engaged. Act as the primary point of contact for volunteers, ensuring timely communication during the onboarding process. Manage Volunteer Screening & Training Process Execute introductory screening calls during the volunteer onboarding process, providing insight into YouVersion values and beliefs. Ensure volunteer onboarding rosters stay up‑to‑date with accurate and complete information, confirmed during onboarding. Ensure all volunteers have completed the necessary steps in the screening process, serving as a reference check for applicant background checks. Develop a system to transition relationship management to Volunteer Managers once a volunteer is onboarded. Ensure volunteer training materials stay updated with relevant information. Skills Needed to Succeed Maintain a systematic and organized approach to completing assignments accurately, thoroughly, and timely. Strong administrative skills. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to clearly explain complicated processes and foster partnerships. Effective at multi‑tasking, time and process management follow‑up, ensuring teams are doing the same. Ability to collaborate in a team environment and work independently. Clearly explain complicated and detailed processes in a concise and straightforward way. High school diploma or GED. 1–3 years of related work experience. Benefits We Offer Paid parental leave, including maternity, paternity, and adoption leave. Generous employer‑paid leave for the use of vacation, sick time, and other qualifying reasons. Short‑Term and Long‑Term disability covered at 100% for full‑time qualified staff members. Comprehensive wellness and mental health benefits allow staff to proactively invest in their physical and emotional health. Generous 401(k) retirement plan allowing a team member to have up to 12.5% (including employee contribution, employer match, and employer discretionary contribution) contributed into their account in their first year.
