School Counselor - Leave Replacement

Position Title: School Counselor Location: Verona High School Dates: August 31, 2026 - December 31, 2026 Position Type: Leave Replacement Position Summary Verona High School is seeking a qualified and student-centered School Counselor to serve as a leave replacement from August 31, 2026 through December 31, 2026. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive academic, social-emotional, and college/career counseling services to students in grades 9-12 while collaborating with faculty, administrators, families, and community resources to support student success. Responsibilities Provide individual and group counseling to students addressing academic, social-emotional, and personal concerns. Assist students with academic planning, course selection, graduation requirements, and post-secondary planning. Support the college and career readiness process, including college applications, recommendation requests, and scholarship opportunities. Monitor student academic progress and attendance, and collaborate with staff to implement interventions when needed. Consult and collaborate with parents/guardians, teachers, administrators, and outside agencies regarding student needs. Maintain accurate and confidential student records in accordance with district policies and applicable laws. Support school-wide programs that promote student achievement, wellness, and positive school climate. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of School Counseling. Qualifications Valid New Jersey School Counselor Certification required (Endorsement Code: 2702). Demonstrated knowledge of adolescent development, counseling practices, and college/career planning. Experience working with high school students preferred. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, staff, and community stakeholders.
