Medical Assistant - Back Office

Position Type: Temporary/Temp-Hire

Schedule: M-F, 9:00 am - 5:30 pm; Closing shifts required two evenings per week; Two Saturdays per month (short days)

Assignment Length: Approximately 3-Months, possibly longer.

The Medical Assistant – Back Office supports clinical operations by assisting providers with patient care, procedures, and administrative clinical tasks. This role requires strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced medical environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
• Obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, and chief complaints
• Assist providers during examinations and minor procedures
• Perform back-office clinical tasks such as injections, EKGs, phlebotomy, and specimen collection (as applicable and within scope)
• Prepare exam rooms, maintain supplies, and ensure proper sterilization of instruments
• Document patient information accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR)
• Follow infection control, safety, and HIPAA guidelines
• Coordinate with front office staff and clinical team to ensure smooth patient flow
• Provide patient education as directed by the provider
• Perform other clinical duties as assigned

Requirements

• Medical Assistant certification or completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
• Previous back-office medical assistant experience preferred
• Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical procedures
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a team environment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Reliable and flexible to accommodate evening and Saturday shifts
