Senior Vice President, Global Operations

The SVP of Global Operations leads the business of manufacturing, operations & supply chain for Cepheid and is accountable for the end-to-end operational performance, quality and reliability of our PCR-based diagnostics product suite including tests and instruments—from raw material sourcing and reagent/formulation through manufacturing, quality, packaging, and global distribution. This leader sets the operational strategy, scales/constricts capacity, ensures compliance to IVD regulations, and delivers world-class service, internal and vendor partnerships and cost performance. The role partners closely with R&D, Quality & Regulatory, Commercial, Finance, and Regional Operations to enable safe, reliable, and compliant availability of products for patients and clinicians worldwide.

Strategy & Operating Model

• Define the global operations strategy (footprint, make/buy, internal vs. external manufacturing, center-of-excellence model) aligned to growth, NPI pipeline, and risk profile.

• Establish long-range capacity plans (3–5 years) for reagents, consumables, instruments, and kitting; plan capital investments and technology roadmap.

• Lead digital operations transformation (ERP, APS, MES, LIMS, IoT/Industry 4.0) to improve visibility, planning accuracy, and compliance.

Manufacturing Excellence (PCR & IVD)

• Own end-to-end manufacturing for enzymes, primers/probes, master mixes, plastics/consumables, and instrument assembly—ensuring contamination control, cleanroom discipline, and unidirectional flow.

• Drive process validation, method validation, equipment qualification, and tech transfers across sites.

• Implement and lead through our Danaher Business System (TPS,Lean, Six Sigma, and visual management) to improve yield, throughput, and cost; sponsor Kaizen and daily management operations.

• Maintain environmental monitoring, batch records, and rigorous lot release controls for PCR reagents & consumables.

Supply Chain, Planning & Logistics

• Build a resilient, multi-tier global supply chain for direct and indirect purchases including critical reagents and components; implement dual sourcing and risk hedges for single-source items.

• Lead S&OP/IBP to align demand, supply, and financial plans; improve forecast accuracy and service levels.

• Optimize inventory, cold chain logistics, and global distribution (GDP compliance), balancing working capital and customer service.

• Manage external partners (CMOs, key suppliers, logistics providers) through robust SRM, performance metrics, and joint business plans.

New Product Introduction (NPI)

• Create a repeatable NPI industrialization framework: DFM/DFA, pilot lines, PPAP, ramp plans, and global tech transfer.

• Align operations readiness with regulatory submissions and launch timelines; ensure lifecycle cost targets and scalability.

Safety, Sustainability & Risk

• Champion a strong EHS culture and compliance; reduce operational incident rates and environmental footprint.

• Develop business continuity plans (pandemic/natural disasters/geopolitical risks), including scenario planning and buffer strategies.

• Advance sustainability (energy, waste reduction, recycling, responsible sourcing).

Workplace & Rooftops

• Responsible for leading all regional facility operations, construction, and security programs across owned and leased properties, ensuring regulatory compliance and operational uptime.

• Advise senior leadership on facilities strategy, risk, and long-term planning; influence cross-functional decisions.

• Support regional business continuity planning, including crisis management, recovery strategies, and risk mitigation across sites.

• Support corporate-led capital deployment initiatives.

Quality, Regulatory & Compliance

• Lead operationally and partner with our QRC teams to ensure global compliance and data integrity requirements.

• Partner with QRC teams to ensure audit readiness; lead remediation and CAPA effectiveness; uphold robust change control.

• Oversee supplier quality, incoming inspection, and risk-based qualification, including critical raw materials (e.g., enzymes, oligos, plastics).

People & Culture

• Establish clear competency frameworks, succession plans, and engagement programs; lead change with transparency and accountability.

Key Qualifications• 15+ years in global manufacturing/operations/supply chain; 8+ years at senior leadership level.• Proven track record of delivering strong Operations results through prudent financialmanagement.• Extensive experience leading large, matrixed global organizations.• Deep experience in IVD/medical devices/biotech, with PCR reagent and consumablemanufacturing strongly preferred.• Proven track record of scaling capacity, leading site strategy, and delivering cost, quality, andservice improvements at global scale.• Experience leading an organization with FDA certified manufacturing.• Expertise in ISO 13485, FDA QSR (21 CFR Part 820), IVDR, MDSAP, validation (IQ/OQ/PQ), andcontamination control.• Leadership of S&OP, ERP (e.g., SAP), APS, MES/LIMS, and data integrity.• Strong financial acumen (P&L ownership, capital planning, productivity programs).• Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills across regions and functions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with enzyme production, oligo synthesis, plastics injection molding/automation, andinstrument assembly/testing.• Able to implement Industry 4.0 capabilities and analytics (OEE, predictive maintenance,digital SPC).• Experience with DBS-like systems such as Lean, Six Sigma, or the Toyota Production System.• Advanced degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, or related field; MBA a plus.

Travel• 30% travel to manufacturing sites, suppliers, distribution centers and other business orleadership related. It will be significantly more in the first year for someone not coming fromwithin the Danaher team.

The salary range for this role is $375000 - $425000 USD. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
